With the date of launch, announcements regarding the iPhone 16 are at its peak and many tech lovers want to know when they can expect their hands on new gadgets by Apple. Four models including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and an even larger Max model are expected to be released in the upcoming series. Our most recent news schedule for the Friday after a new iPhone is announced points towards the iPhone 16 release date being set for Friday, September 20.
Apple is set to launch its major new 2019 products on September 10th, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. That keynote will almost certainly see the introduction of new iPhone 16 models, but included in those introductions are also expected updates to other Apple products such as AirPods and maybe even an all-new entry-level Apple Watch. This suggests he knows Apple is gearing up for a September 10 unveiling, and Gurman has some reputation to back his claims having previously given accurate play-by-plays of numerous Apple events. The forecast then is for a typical Apple launch, with the iPhone 16 release date likely within ten days of when these models are officially announced.
That said, some considerations could affect the event timing. That day is also when we’re expecting the first televised Presidential debate, and Apple may not want to risk getting lost in all that noise. Given this, some are now wondering if Apple might opt to reschedule the keynote for a different day. September 3, a Tuesday seems too early and quite improbable but September 9 is within reach. Should Apple instead go with this earlier date, it could even shift the iPhone 16 release date, to Friday, September 13 – but that’s probably wishful thinking.
Keynote on Sept 10 (event), pre-orders for the two so-called iPhone 11 models starting Friday, Sept. 13: further out in Josh’s story If this timeline remains accurate, then the iPhone 16 release date will be Friday, September 20. Apple typically takes pre-orders a few days after the keynote and then starts shipping them in stores on Friday of the following week.
Apple is known to pull out plenty of surprises, but anticipation among others in the industry had Apple at or even ahead of their rate for production for iPhone 16. If anything, it could enable Apple to follow its usual schedule or else make a surprise announcement sooner than some followers might expect.
The keynote shouldn’t be dismissed as an event to happen on the other date–Thursday, September 12. Apple could be waiting until after the IFA trade show in Berlin which runs until the 10th of September to avoid a possible clash and the similarities between Xiaomi and Meizu events with Apple if it decides either way would end up skipping one day later than earlier rumoured. Apple has never, obviously, chosen to hold a keynote on September 11 so that does rule out the Wednesday currentItem.
TL; DR for the moment it is estimated that Apple will make this appointment at 10:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, September 10th from Steve JobsTheater in Cupertino Expect pre-orders to kick off on Friday, September 6 for a release the following week — likely Friday, September 20. Although it is theoretically possible to restart operations on Monday, September 9 – that would appear very unlikely. But the Apple company could yet be swayed by some sort of all-important Entire World Presidential Debate on Oct 10.
So, taking everything into account, then it does indeed look like the iPhone 16 release date will be on Friday, September 20 (most likely after another hotly tipped Apple keynote in early September).
